How you get your export

  1. Test the file structure

Download the free CSV sample file with 30 fictitious businesses and check the columns in Excel or your CRM.

  2. Agree the export

Name the industry, nation or postcode areas, the fields you need and what you will use the data for. The quote confirms available records, how current the data are and the price.

  3. Import the file

You receive the agreed export as CSV, or XLSX or JSON on request, for your CRM, your mailing or your analysis.

Not every business has every contact field. Coverage and how current the data are · sources and methodology. Consent to marketing is not included: emails to sole traders and partnerships outside Scotland need consent or a soft opt-in (reg. 22(3) PECR), and phone numbers must be screened against TPS/CTPS before sales calls (PECR overview).

Markets

Focused on the UK, EU countries on request

Our focus is the United Kingdom with 21 industries. We compile company data from EU countries, such as Ireland, Germany or France, on request.

Sources: our own dataset, ONS, Eurostat; figures and methodology on the database status page and in the methodology.

Data sources

Where the data come from

The UK company register is free to download, but it contains no phone numbers, email addresses or websites. Our dataset therefore combines open map data and the contact pages of company websites, and we match it with Companies House.

Data sources and methodology
Overture Maps (processed)

Open map data (CDLA Permissive 2.0) with name, address, phone and website of businesses; the basis of all 2,676,396 records (as at 4 November 2026).

Company websites (collection in progress)

Email addresses that businesses publish on their own websites; so far 603,041 live websites have been read. Addresses shared by several businesses are not counted as their own.

Companies House (matching in progress)

The free register snapshot of live companies with company number, registered office, company type, status and SIC codes. It adds identifiers, not contact details.

Official statistics

Figures from the ONS and Eurostat are only used to put the market size into context; they contain no details of individual businesses.

Email addresses shared by three or more records with different names do not count as their own address. Phone numbers so far come from Overture Maps only. Practical guidance

From the file to a clean, traceable dataset

Map columns before importing

Compare the 15 documented export fields with your target table. A general CSV file is not a guaranteed direct integration with any particular software.

Keep text fields as text

Postcodes, phone numbers and company numbers are identifiers, not numbers to calculate with. Check data types in the import preview so that leading zeros and prefixes such as SC or NI are kept.

Keep missing values visible

An empty field is not zero and not proof that the information does not exist. It means it is missing from the data provided. Your own verified information should not be overwritten by it.

Screen before you contact

Run phone numbers against TPS and CTPS before sales calls and keep your own suppression list for opt-outs. Separate sole traders and partnerships from limited companies before emailing.

FAQ

Questions about the data, format and marketing law

Exporting a whole industry costs £199 to £379, depending on the industry, as a one-off price with nothing added and no subscription. Selections by nation, postcode area or additional filters are quoted individually. The price list shows the price of each industry.

On 4 November 2026 it held 2,676,396 records, 2,566,320 of them with a phone number, email address or website. Figures by nation are on the database status page. The quote confirms the actual size of your selection.

Choose an industry or name the nation, postcode areas and required fields in the request form. Before you order, we confirm scope, how current the data are, the price and the delivery date in writing. A request is not yet an order.

For limited companies, PLCs, LLPs and Scottish partnerships (“corporate subscribers”), the consent rule for marketing emails in regulation 22 PECR does not apply; every email must still identify you and offer a working way to opt out. Sole traders and partnerships in England, Wales and Northern Ireland count as individuals: they need consent or a soft opt-in. Details with sources: PECR rules for B2B email and calls.

Live sales calls are allowed unless the number is registered with the Telephone Preference Service or the Corporate TPS, or the business has told you not to call (regulations 21 and 26 PECR). Screening the numbers against TPS and CTPS before calling is your responsibility as the caller; the export is not screened. Automated recorded calls need consent.

Yes. The export and sample file page offers a CSV with 30 entirely fictitious businesses. Use it to check delimiters, characters and field mapping. It says nothing about the size or contact coverage of a real delivery.

The Companies House company number, once a record is matched with the register (matching is in progress). Sole traders and ordinary partnerships have no company number; for them, website and postcode are only hints and should be checked before you merge records.

Yes. The standard is a UTF-8 CSV file with semicolons as delimiters; in Excel, open it via Data › From Text/CSV. On request we deliver XLSX or JSON. The export and sample file page shows the columns.

The records come from Overture Maps (open map data with name, address, phone and website, licence CDLA Permissive 2.0) and from the contact pages of the businesses’ own websites, which we are still collecting. The free Companies House register will add company numbers and status to matched records; matching is in progress. Companies House publishes no phone numbers or email addresses. Details for each source: data sources and methodology.

Data about limited companies are not personal data. Data about sole traders, partners and named contact persons are personal data under the UK GDPR. We process them on the basis of legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f) UK GDPR); the information under Art. 14 UK GDPR is on the your rights page, and anyone can object at any time via the opt-out page.
