Process

From request to file

Three steps. You commit to nothing in advance: first you see scope, the date of the data and price, then you decide.

Request a list

1. Describe the target group

Name the industry or activity, the nations, regions or postcode areas, the fields every record should contain and the intended use. Help with definitions: UK SIC 2007: industry codes for target lists.

2. Confirm scope and price

We state the number of records after filters, the available columns, the date of the data and the price. Prices shown are the full price – nothing is added.

3. Receive the file

You receive the export as a UTF-8 CSV, or XLSX or JSON on request, as a one-off without a subscription.

Regional selection

By nation and postcode area

We assign the nation using the postcode of the business address. Selection is provided for all four nations of the UK and by postcode area; the official number of businesses per nation and English region is on the businesses by nation and region page.

  • England
  • Northern Ireland

UK company data: frequently asked questions

Yes, on request. The UK dataset holds 2 676 396 records (as at 4 November 2026), 2 566 320 of them with phone, email or website; collection from company websites and matching with Companies House are still running. The quote states how many records are available for your selection, with how current the data are and the price. Company data from other countries: EU and other markets.

Each industry card shows the number of businesses according to official statistics as the market size. In total, the ONS counts 2 786 985 businesses registered for VAT and/or PAYE (ONS, UK business: activity, size and location 2026). We will publish our own figures per industry once the assignment is complete. With regional and field filters a list is smaller; the quote states the size of your selection.

Exporting a whole industry costs £199 to £379; each industry’s price is on its card and on the pricing page. Selections by nation, postcode area or your own filters are quoted on request. You receive a file for permanent use, not a subscription. Prices shown are the full price – nothing is added. How to compare offers is described in the guide Buying UK business data: what to check.

As a UTF-8 CSV file, or as an Excel file (XLSX) or JSON on request. The 15 columns and a sample file with fictitious businesses are on the export page.

From Overture Maps (open map data) and the contact pages of company websites; in progress: the Companies House register (matching in progress) and phone numbers from company websites (after checking). Companies House publishes its register as a free download, but without phone numbers, email addresses or websites. We never fill an empty field with assumed values. Details: data sources and methodology.

Yes, within PECR. Marketing emails to limited companies, PLCs, LLPs and Scottish partnerships do not need prior consent, but each email must identify you and contain a valid opt-out address. Sole traders and partnerships in England, Wales and Northern Ireland count as individual subscribers and need consent or a soft opt-in (regulation 22(3) PECR).

Live sales calls are not allowed to numbers registered with TPS or Corporate TPS (regulation 21 PECR); screening is the caller’s duty, and the export is not screened. More: PECR rules for B2B email and calls. You are responsible for the legal review of your campaign.

Selection by nation (England, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland) and by postcode area is provided; the nation is assigned using the postcode of the business address, and for postcode districts that cross a border, the country that most of the district lies in. The full postcode is a column in the export that you can filter yourself.

Companies House lists limited companies, LLPs and other incorporated bodies with their registered office, status and SIC codes, but no phone numbers, email addresses or websites, and no sole traders or ordinary partnerships. A company list brings contact details and register data together in one table. What the register contains: Companies House: what the free data shows.
